Last Thursday evening I popped into Garden State Equality’s headquarters here in Asbury Park to join the kick off event for Equality in Motion 2026.
Having this amazing organization here in our city means so much to me. The support they offer to the LGBTQ Community and especially the youth of this community is so important.
I’m also very thankful for their endorsement in my run for Mayor. Thanks for another great community gathering @gsequality ! 🩵

A beautiful Saturday in my life as Deputy Mayor in

A beautiful Saturday in my life as Deputy Mayor in Asbury Park:

9:00 a.m. Greenings from Asbury Park. I’ve been volunteering with the environmental shade tree greening crew for years! I don’t make it around as much as I used to be able to, but Tom and his band of volunteers do a beautiful job with the gardening and beautification of our city.

10:30 a.m. Ran home to change into clean clothes then on to the Bradley Elementary soccer field to see Kevin Strickland (who also happens to be Asbury Santa) coaching our newly formed Asbury Park United Soccer Club.

11:00 a.m. I was running late but still made it over to congratulate St. VincentDe Paul Center on the ribbon cutting of their new thrift shop. Kudos for this amazing endeavor.

12:00 p.m. Joined Councilwoman Yvonne Clayton at Asbury Park’s Community Festival, which she organized with the Quality of Life committee in Springwood Ave Park. It was an awesome event with amazing live music, food and clothing pantries, free haircuts, vaccinations, voter registration kiosks, food trucks and even a Grandma giving advice and hugs! Great to see so many teachers and principals there.

1:30 p.m. Stopped to check out Jenn Hampton’s latest amazing PlusOneAP project called the Carousel Funhouse with carnival stands set up in the Carousel building. Jenn knocked it out of the park yet again!

2:30 p.m. Walked along the boardwalk to see all the Zombies starting to gather for Asbury Park’s 18th annual Zombie Walk. This is an awesome, family friendly event bringing people and creativity out from all areas of NJ. In 2013 AP hit Guinness World Record status with this event, gathering approximately 9,500 zombies.

3:45 p.m. Headed to Ocean Township to award a proclamation to the Women’s Club of Asbury Park. They’re a non profit organization originally founded as “The Saturday Club” in 1900 by a group of women. They gathered to create an action organization for women whose goal to this day is to make life better for women in our community via philanthropic efforts.

5:00 p.m. Back home for dinner with Heather and Jensen. 🩵

The March of Medusa is one of those local events that just keeps getting better every year. We had such a great time with our group making our masks under the guidance of artist in residence @wolfbat 🦇
And the event on Sunday was just as amazing- it even rained and nobody seemed to mind!
Thanks to the @oceanavenuestompers for providing the perfect parade soundtrack and for @_juicyjenn and @woodenwallsproject for bringing this workshop here for the 3rd year in a row! Can’t wait till next year!🩵

What fun and fantastic time we had at the Kickoff on Cookman last night! I was so happy to see everyone’s smiling faces supporting businesses, shopping, grabbing a bite, seeing art, and enjoying this awesome free night of @seahearnow music on Press Plaza.
My favorite part was the puppet duel curated by local art innovator @_juicyjenn and @wolfbat !
Thanks to everyone who came out! Enjoy the weekend and I’ll see you at the beach! 🩵

Affordable Housing. It’s a tough topic, and we have to talk about it…

I hear you. I see all the comments and questions. I also live here. I’m your neighbor and I feel the same fear and frustrations about rising prices.

I won’t pretend policy can fix everything. What I can promise is that I’ll keep closing the loopholes landlords use to get around these rules, and I’ll keep fighting for whatever comes next that can actually help the residents of Asbury Park.

The Rent Leveling Board meets the 2nd Thursday of every month at 5:00 PM at City Hall. It’s open to anyone who wants to see this work up close.

Thank you to everyone who came out last night to cheers to 50 years with me! It was wonderful to see your smiling faces and hear your words of support. It was also incredible to reminisce with so many of you and take a moment to celebrate how far we have come.
We have many more specific thanks and snippets from the party coming up but I didn’t want to let another minute go buy without thanking so many of you for taking the time to show up for me on a random Tuesday. As someone who thinks no one is going to show up for any of my events, I was so touched and flattered.
As Mayor, I promise to always show up for you. Let’s make it happen November 3rd!🩵
